70 Hp johnson 1970 model stuck in reverse

Boat goes great in reverse, but will not go forward. I was told it has an electronic transmission with two magnetic coils. If this is what the problem is where can I get a new coil? If this is not the problem what could the problem be? Please help<br />Thanks,<br />Chris

There isn't a 1970 70hp, and this is more than one type of electrically-controlled gearbox around those years. So, first we need to know what motor you have. How about the model number (see tag on port-side transom bracket)?

I will get the number saturday and post it. I was told it was a 70hp because that is what the cover says. Another question I have is whether another lower unit will bolt up to this motor. The motor was rebuilt 1 year ago.<br />Thanks for your help.
