70 hp johnson too much personality

hello people my 1979 johnson 70hp mtr is running crazy.i have cleaned the carbs throughly.first trip to the lake ran perfect,drove around for a while than stopped for a cold beer,when it restarted it wouldnt go on plane right away.have to move throttle slowly then stop just before it dies and wait for the idle to get faster on its own then go for it.afterwards it runs good until it slows down again.the flywheel is hot and the stator or sensor is too hot to touch.but the engine is normal temp.any help would be great.

Likely electrical. Have good repair shop (need Mercotronic instruments)
check coils and power pack. You can first check if coil insulation is cracked. If so, fill cracks with silicone seal.
