I just bought a boat for $200 and the thing is not geting any spark. Model number on the engine is 707ha which puts it at 1970-1973. Ive put new plugs and wires on it. The guy i bought it from actually got it with the ignition pack off the engine and had to wire it himself so hes not even sure if he has it wired correctly. He said that someone has told him there is a way to bypass the ignition pack (same as coil pack?) and run the spark plugs directly off the distrubator. Is this true if so how if not how can i get this beautiful engine running?

Good place to start is buying a manual
thses guys have the original chrysler service manulas in downloadable form for $15
http://www.chryslercrew.com/

or you could get a seloc or clymer manual at alot of boat dealers
I do not know of any way to run without the ignition pack
When I first got my '74 75hp I wasn't getting spark becuase of my points being corroded you might want to check that
