70 hp power trim motor replacement

i have a 1992 70hp evinrude and the power trim motor went. does the engine need to be removed to replace it, any hints on replacing it

You should be able to remove the trim/pump assembly. Take the motor to a electrical repair shop and have it tested. Its either worn brushes or a overload curcuit thats bad. If its the overload curcuit thats bad , have the tech to by-pass it and put a 20 amp fuse between the motor and the battery.

Cheeper than buying a new one.............
