703 Remote- Push/Pull Reconfigure

The instructions supplied with my remote controll say it is possible to reconfigure the box from push to open throttle to pull to open throttle.<br />*My question is-- Does this require a different linkage part or can the part be reconfigured to the new position? I have inspected my linkage and it looks like the pieces are swaged together. Is this correct or can the pieces be taken apart and pressed back together?<br /><br />Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

the 703 will require a new throttle drum, the part number is in the rigging guide.

I just performed the operation you describe last week. I used a dremel disc to remove the peening on the ODs of the two pivot pins. I then flipped the link, mounted it in the other hole, and used a center punch to re-peen the pins. Everything seems ok but it really hasn't seen any challenging service yet.<br /><br />You also have to disconnect the fast idle lever, rotate its disc by 180 degrees, and reconnct the lever. On reassembly of the control, the fast idle pin has to go into the L-shaped slot, not the straight one.<br /><br />PS Rodbolt was close, but the piece is a throttle ARM in the boats.net listings.

Great! Thanks guys. I think I'll first attempt Jack's way and see how that works. Maybe I can find some new pins with a grove and use a circlip to retain the linkages.<br />I'll post the outcome later.

So after spending some time at failed attempts to remove the peening from the ends of the 2 pins, I broke down and purchased a new throttle linkage arm... worth every penny.<br /><br />Remote box was reassembled and is now working great. Thanks!

I did,the exact same thing for mine.
