Hello i just bought a boat with a mid 70's 1500 150hp merc.. i get NO pee stream out of the hose.. is it also supposed to blow water out the small fins above the propeller? .. thanks for your patience, i dont know anything about marine motors :) also, if it sounds like a bad water pump, how hard are they to change??

Thanks
Blair

it's suppose to come out the hose in the right rear looking from the rear, and thru the prop center. run some weed eater line up the pee hole about 12 " critter like to move in there. if still no pee, time for a new impellar, you will need a manual available at oldmercs.com

ahh ok thanks for the info. we just ran out and pulled the bottom part off that has the water pump in it, and the water pump impellar is completely destroyed so i guess thats it..

BSF - Actually the gratings above the A-V plate are where most of the cooling water comes out of. The tell-tale stream is there so you can see that the waterpump is working, while driving the boat. Water also comes out the square holes just under the powerhead, especially at idle (in the water, not the flusher). BTW - It is essential to have a good impeller, at all times.
