70's vintage L6 starter

what starters are compatible with chev inline 6? do i have 10 mt design? just trying to get correct starter as previous owner installed duralast with no marine designation and couldn't cross duralast # to marine so it must be auto starter , thanks to all

It should be the same starter as the 3.0l of that vintage...

lots of advertised starters on ebay for mercruiser 3.0 say they replace 10 mt model with this new starter which looks a lot smaller than the large motor starter i have now

Sounds like the right one, I might buy one for my straight six, I really like the mini starters.

FYI.

The 10MT starter was used on all 12-volt GM models built after 1956, up into the '90s. It was also used on some models of American Motors, Studebaker and International; even Ford for a brief time used a version of the 10MT with its own nose configuration. Motorcraft even developed their own starter modeled after the 10MT that was used on late Sixties and early Seventies big-block Ford applications. Many industrial and tractor manufacturers also used the Delco 10MT on their gas engines. For this reason, the 10MT starter was available with as many as 25 different drive-end noses. All of these noses have a mounting area where a cylindrical electric solenoid was attached. This activated a plunger and lever assembly to engage the starter drive.
