I just bought this motor, it is the 4r72 high torque model. I am accustomed to seeing a little spray of water coming out of the lower unit when everything is working well on most the outboards I have seen. I don't see that or even an orofice on this motor, it runs good, and it didnt seem to run hot. Nothing is in the manual regarding this either, I hate to be ignorant and all......
Thanks for your input.

Welcome to iboats,

You should have water spritzing from the small exhaust idle relief ports on the rear of the mid section below the powerhead. Since this is a new to you motor, I suggest a water pump impeller replacement. It's a simple matter to drop the lower unit and replace it. Make sure that if running in a barrel, you have enough water to cover the water pump by a few inches.

Yes thank you, I did just find that in the manual second read through. Thank you and it was sputtering some water out of there, I am just sort of paradoid about things like that.
