72 Evin 25 hp.. Octane gas?

I've used 93 and 89 before, but I just filled up with 87 for an outing tomorrow.

I would think it would be better to run 87 due to age/compression on my motor.

Does it matter what octane I use with this motor?

Glad to hear that 87 should run fine. Would you suggest to always run 87 or possibly something higher?

I've never been a big fan of 87 and I normally choose 89 for everything gas operated.

Should be no issue to run 87 octane all the time in that motor.

It probably WOULD be an issue running anything higher. Most premium grades these days get there artificially by adding ethanol. Older motors have components in the fuel system that don't tolerate alcohol well. But even worse is that oil doesn't mix with alcholol, and alcohol makes a good degreaser which prevents oil from sticking to the internals.
