i have a 1972 johnson 50 hp motor s/n 50esl72c i bought the motor with no key from a marine autowrecker. the motor runs good when i jump it from the starter solinoid. i bought a new ignition and found a wiring diagram for it. from my understanding all the wires are hooked up correctly, however when i turn the key the motor still dosent crank? would anyone know how to steer me in the rite direction on this one? also the motor is electric shift so it defaults to foward gear if the key is not on. thanks in advance

You have it in neutral? It won't crank in gear. I assume you even have the neutral switch in the system (it is part of the shift switch)

EDIT: Blown 20 amp fuse???
