73 25hp oil draining

i have a 73 25hp evinrude longshaft 2 stroke. is it normal to see a few of drops oil draining from the lower unit water drain holes? the motor runs great and is mixed right.the lower unit oil is clear not milky, it looks like 2 cycle oil.<br />thanks

Well, all the engines I have had and observe usually have somekind of oil residue that drains out with the water...sortof a black water look. I wouldn't say I notice actual drops of "oil" coming out.... just some oily water.... is this what you mean?

If the oil is black and exhaust smelling and its flowing out of the exhaust drain holes, thats normal if its been iddling and not up to normal operating temperature. When on muffs the most do so. Its unburned 2 stroke lube, then.

yep it's black watery(a little thicker) type and smells burned. so it's unburned oil then.<br />thanks
