First off let me start with a little intro. My name is Chris. I'm 28 yo and a proud owner of '76 Jon boat with a '73 Merc 200, 20hp, motor. I have been looking around this little motor going over every wire and hose. I do plan on purchasing a repair manual, but just cant right now. My question is I have 2 small hoses, on the kill switch side, that I replaced due to both were torn but have no idea what they are for. I have posted the pics below. Any help would appreciated fellas. Thanks.

Re: '73 Merc 200

Well after some thinking and tinkering I have come to the conclusion that these hoses are fuel lines to the combustion chambers???? Not 100% sure. Did get the motor to fire. Even if it ran for just a few seconds was enough to put a smile on my face. I did notice fuel trying to flow through these tubes as I tried to start the engine. Lot of air in the lines though. Maybe this is why the motor wont stay running. Could this be a miss-adjusted, if that's a word, carb???

Not fuel, they're water (coolant) lines. You did have it in water, right? I'm not sure what the lines do, I just know its for water.

Gotcha! Yep got it in water and started to see flow through the lines. Still air in there though. I only messed with it a few more times. Plan on getting back on it tomorrow morning. Thanks again friend.
