Russell was like a 2 by 4 that was fiberglass flat at the bottom from the transom half way up to the bow Which I thought was weird, you could see it Where I cut the tabbing to remove it on the attached pics

Grind it and taper it on both sides. Lay some 1708 1700 depending on the resin your using. Do a few layers. 3-4 inches bigger each one. On the outside sand/grind it smooth and re gel coat. Inside done it is hidden anyway

First off i apologize, sorry my updates have been so far apart if anybody's even following Lol. I've had a sciatic nerve issue that's been given me hell! It was hurting so bad I was miserable therefore last thing I wanted to do was crawl around and work on the boat lol I've been taking it easy and I feel a bit better so i think I'm ready to start grinding😷 lol I got an assortment of wheels and disks to use and did a test spot. I notice there's a few different layers, the green that I circled I feel like I went too far?.?. Maybe somebody can point me in the right direction? I read through the forms and everybody talks about grinding to clean pink fiberglass. I don't think I have any of that, lol I think I might of grinded to deep looking for it lol So if someone possibly can chime in and give me some direction I'd appreciate that!!!. Thank you Chevymaher, I also did some reading on that and found it was pretty common. Guess just more unnecessary time . But shouldn't be that bad to fix.

I think the Hull is made with the thick fiberglass weave and then the tight woven fiberglass weave was used for tabbing. But where the bottom of the hull meets the side it seems like The thick woven fiberglass stops and it becomes what looks like fiberglass hair's going all directions in some type of resin..... then a little above that It seems like it's another thin layer of the resin and fiberglass hairs. It starts on the top of a little shelf, which was built on top of the deck so I'm thinking after the deck and structure was built they added another thin layer of that resin/fiberglass hair. Its thick in some spots and really thin in others, it doesn't seem like this 2nd layer stuck to the 1st layer very well. Meaning I believe the shelf had a lot of structural value I'm gonna put it back in so how much grinding do I need to do on the side of the Hull so I can Tab the new shelf back in? Sorry for all the ???? But it seems like this hull is different then what I'm finding.... I dont have clean pink fiberglass! lol Thank you guys!

Also just did a test grand on the side, I don't know how boats are made but it doesn't seem like there's any fiberglass cloth on the side. Just seems like it's resin with fiberglass strands inside of it and really thin at that! I have a whole lot of small holes on the outside, I'm guessing wherever the Gel coat bubbled and chipped off. I grinded on the outside where one of the holes were and then tried to grind to "clean" fiberglass on the inside in the same spot. Gosh this hull seems thin! Am I missing something? Are the sides of a Hull nothing but really thin resin with strands of fiber glass in it? I have no clue On how much of the stuff I should be grinding off. Help please!!!!!!😬🥴 lol

Your grinding looks sufficient to me. Put some 1708 on the inside and 3-3 layers of 1.5oz csm on the outside and call it good
Some hull sides are NOT to thick. Depends on the MFG.
