Wires can be backwards to piontsets, but its easy to test, just swap the connectors on coilwires, and see if it fires right. The 22 cid are very fine, runs smoother and quiter than the later ones, but with less torque. If the prop is too large for the 20 I think it is for the 25 too, the 25 puts its power out at 1000 rpm more than the 20, you can see it on the label on the steering bracket. Do a sparktest, it will tell you a lot. If it fires fine, seal the cracked coil with silicone. If ignition is fine, sync'n linck ok and carb clean, they run very very fine.

Pull the plugs. Trace back from top cylinder plug wire to the point set for that coil. If the piston is near TDC when those points open timing is close enough to avoid backfire. Otherwise make a switch so that cam peak and TDC are roughly coincident.

Sounds like you've got a really nice motor--too bad you cant' test it until spring. That compression reading you had was GREAT!
nice looking, too.
Glad you got it fixed,

My 25 had a chronic lean sneeze too until I readjusted the carb. I still think my 'Rude is prettier!;)
