Are there any options for replacing the mallory cap and rotor on a 1976 75hp Chrysler outboard.

Thanks

Re: 75 hp Chrysler cap and rotor

Well, What exactly is the problem? Distributor ignition systems did work fine, but the prestolite distributorless system was a little more precise.

You can replace the cap and rotor; parts are available at the Chrysler Crew.

Or: You can convert to Prestolite ignition with a little bit of engine modification.

If it is just a cap and rotor you need, send me a private message.

Re: 75 hp Chrysler cap and rotor

Frank,

We just got the motor with a pontoon we bought, it ran fine with muffs when we got it home.

The head gasket was leaking so we fixed that, and were just going to tune it up before trying it on the water this weekend.

However, the parts were not available locally so I thought I would ask about parts and other options. The prices for the parts I was quoted are quite expensive, and with the looks of it the motor was ran hot before so we are just trying to get a reference so we can decide to put some money in this one or look for a motor to replace it. We would like a smaller outboard around 40-50 hp would probably work good for our use.

So for now we tuned it up with what is available and will try it hopefully on Saturday afternoon.

Thanks

Paul
