The trigger is the gizmo under the flywheel that moves when you advance/retard the throttle. Also called a timer sensor. Because it moves the wires can wear, rub against something, etc. and can cause intermittent issues...

Also - there are THREE carbs on this motor. A sticky float on one carb is not going to shut the motor down.

One other thing to check - the wiring for the kill switch. I believe it is the black with yellow tracer. It originates at the powerpackp plug and runs all the way through the harness. Make sure it is working properly and isn't wearing against anything....

O.K. after trying just about everything suggested, still same problem. I thought what the hell and changed the plugs and no more problem. All three looked like they were burning properly. I change the plugs at the beginning of each season so I did not think this would be the problem, I bought the L77JC4 instead of what I have used in the past the QL77JC4 both gapped at .030. because the marina was out of the QL's. Could electrical interference been causing my problem or just a bad plug.

I've had some wonky issues with the QL-series vs. the plain L-series. The QL is a resistor plug that is intended to reduce electrical interference in onboard electronics. I've found my motors tend to run better with the plain L77JC4s...

I think not having the supressor was causing my problem.
