Has anyone found a parts resource for this animal? Ive been searching for hours and at best have been able to piece together most of the ignition and carb parts from about just as many sources. And I cannot for the life of me find a replacement rotor. thank you.

Believe it or not the rotors can still be ordered from Mercury via a dealer.

Thanks guys. The only part the mercury dealer could get me was the rotor. you are right, but they wanted 100 dollars for it. I dont know this seemed a little high but it appears I have no choice. pretty expensive error on my part(I broke it when I took it off, OOPS). Ive tried grubbs, no luck thanks.

Well, don't give up yet. Try Ebay every day. Do a search under "merc outboard parts" and see what pops-up.
I know what you mean about them plastic,mouled-on rotors. A very narrow-sighted design to be sure, because when it breaks, you are done. I thought about taking some JB Weld to one on a 115HP inline 6, but decided not to, after finding one locally at a boat slavage yard for 10buks :D
The boat owner was ecstatic! And I got a free ride on all his crappie outings on the big-O.
But anyhoo, keep trying Ebay, and remind me, I'll swing by Mainsail Marina here, and see if John has one for your 50.

thanx 12 footer. I just found one today $3 at doug russell. And they had just about everything else I needed too. you know I was thinking about using epoxy on that old rotor, but was a little concerned about taking the family out in the middle of nowhere (alaska) when it gave. Then I thought of epoxy and a hose clamp as a fail safe but unsure if unbalance would cause premature wear of bearings. I would of gladly paid $100 for their saftey just seemed high. By the way I just caught somewhere on a post that your 12' is a lonestar. I love that boat! Mine was a 15' covered hull console. Ihad to leave it behind in MI, and they are just now putting it up for sale. I would have givin anything to get it up here.
