My 75 hp DT-75 1990 model tries to jump out of gear when coming out of the hole, mechanic says it may be the forward gear, but he's not sure. He suggested a whole new foot. wondering if the linkage could be the problem....anyone had similar problems? Also, where can I find parts? Thanks for any help.
Kevin

Re: 75hp gear problems

You can get schematics and parts breakdowns from brownspoint.com , cant tell you what the problem is but you can order parts from them. Any metal chunks in the oil or stange noises ? Is the movement to engage the gears equal for both forward and reverse ?

Re: 75hp gear problems

hello
usually its caused by a worn shift clutch and fwd gear assy. not hard to fix but can be rather expensive. if thats all that is wrong its still cheaper to fix it than replace it. if your old unit is corrosion damaged replacement may be a consideration.

Re: 75hp gear problems

Thanks for the help, I found out the clutch dog shifter was put on backwards, I turned it around, appears to run properly now.
