I have a 77 9.8 with a fried cylinder with no compression. The other cylinder has 50. My question is should I have the cylinder fixed, replace the powerhead (I hope that's right) or throw it out? If it can be fixed what are the costs(roughly)? If I can replace the powerhead then what range of years can I use? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott:confused:

Good luck Scott, I have the same issues w/my 1984 and I have left several posts w/only one response. If you decide to repair it lets stay in touch and maybe we can work it out w/each others help.

You are probably not getting responses because the question is too vauge, and too detailed at the same time. Of course you would need to repair this motor, no question. How you do that is depending on a lot of things. But the cost involved depends on way too many variables i.e where the work is done, how far you strip block, what all is in need of repair/replacement. I hope things work out.
