77 mercury tach wire

putting new gauges on boat need to know were<br />rectafire ? is / brown wire from tach not connected @ engine if possible need wire diagram <br />for tach gauges

welcome aboard,<br />other 2 wires are red and black right?<br />follow them to rectifier. 6 terminals,<br />3 to tach, 3 to battery for recharging.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.

6 terminals on a rectifier? On a Merc? Have we had a few too many boat drinks there mellowyellow? There are 3 terminals on the rectifier for that engine, one red and two yellow/red. The brown wire connects to one of the yellow/red wires and provides a signal for the tach. <br /><br />Good luck!

not enough maybe dilligaf?<br /> <br />3 is correct thanks. 2 wires from stator above<br />and 1 going from rectifier to battery.
