Pisser first, yes, even before that jacket is completely full and forcing water into the area around the cylinders. But assuming that exhaust area is holding for just a moment, and the exhaust is backing up through where the water normally enters the exhaust, it's going to be nearly the last thing to be shut down.

That's the way I have it figured anyway. Would love to have somebody tell me that I'm a dumb *** and looking at it all wrong.... -Al

Gotcha. I saw one, located at the top of the upper cylinder. Would be pretty easy to have one (or several) of those harden or break up somehow. The one that's there though, seemed fine. Still flexible and held in place fine. No idea if there are more required. -Al

Well, thinking the chances of an issue there just might be my issue. Worth the price of a head gasket to check into further anyway. I've looked around/beat the bush for a couple of hours now, and cannot find the location of the second deflector. Can anyone give me a hint at where to look for either a picture showing both deflectors, or provide a description of it's (their) location?

Thanks a ton! -Al

Back to the drawing boards....

While I still think that the water deflector idea was a great one, ANOTHER tear down proved that there were in fact 2 of them in place, and that both are supple and no doubt working as designed.

Had my hopes up on that one. -Al
