After fixing a leaky line on my PTT I took it out to the river 5 mins away and ran her for a couple of hours and successfully trimmed it out for the first time. Every since I got the boat it hasn't had a strong PTT system, barely lifting and lowering after bleeding.
So now my problem i have just the clickes when I hit the up or down buttons. Its the 3-wire pump and 2 cylinder system. I think I locked up the motor when I was trying to trim out. I was testing the good ole whale tail vs. no whale tale, (yes I know they suck but I don't want to drop the coinage on trim taps, we are hopefully getting a new boat this winter).
So tonight I am going to clean the wires and contacts as well as jump staight to the motor to see whats up. I did a little tapping on the side of the motor since its jsut a starter that goes both ways.
So if those things don't bring hope to the motor not being burnt up I am trying to figure out how hard it would be to build the motor. And if I can't do it how much might a electrical shop rebuild it for.
Has anyone here rebuilt theirs? I searched but didn't come across too much success.
