79 johnson 35 hp which plug

i bought a used 79 johnson 35 hp.my question is. on the spark plug wire there is a tag that says "champion L78V" and the sparkplug thats in it now is QL77JC4. i pulled the plug that is in the motor and it has the metal to set the gap and the L78V does not.which plug should i use and is one better than the other.thanx in advance.

Use the the QL77JC4. They tend to idle better. Stick with Champion.
