I've got a '79 Johnson 35 hp (Model 35EL79A). I've had the motor for about 3 years and it has been great to me. Aside from new starter brushes and the need to clean the carb on about 12 times now (my own fault, didn't winterise it and kept trying to run old gas) it has been damn near flawless. However, because the motor is older and I'd like to keep it around for a while, is there any advise you can suggest.
I change the gear oil in the lower unit every year. I no longer try to run old fuel. I run a new fuel filter.
Is there anything else I should be doing to keep this motor alive. Water Pump, etc??
Tyler
