8 hp won't run

I rebuilt the carb over the winter.
The motor ran like a champ on three different occasions for a total of about 5 hours.
The other day it started running like crap. It won't run up to wide open, runs about halfway up the RPM range but no more.
I found that if I disconnect the fuel line, as it runs out of gas, it will run normally.
Do I need to pull the carb? Or maybe it's the fuel pump?

Thanks

Re: 8 hp won't run

the reason a motor usually runs better as it runs out of fuel is b/c there is a blockage in the carb, not all the time but this is common. alot of the time people notice that there motor runs better with the choke pulled out a little making the fuel/air ratio closer ( do not do this for long ) if you have an electric choke you can bump the choke while it is acting up and see if it clears up for a second or two . your best bet is to do a good cleaning and inspection, rebuilt if needed.good luck!!

it sounds like there is trash in the carb.
