i have an engine with low compression, already removed the powerhead, started disassembly. looking to replace gaskets, hone it & rings. Removed the head, reed cage part, looks like connecting rods can be removed from here and be able to take the piston out without taking the 2 crank cases apart or removing the flywheel etc..

what socket size would i use for those torx looking bolts on the piston rods looking from the intake side? would i be able to put in new rod 'needle bearings' ?

is this a ok method to tackle this or do i have to take apart the whole flywheel assembly and the halves??

and what size is the socket for the flywheel? i didnt have that big of a socket, so might have to get some before the weekend.

or should i be looking for another complete powerhead, if so can i use a powerhead from another engine of sizes 70-80 hp range? and would it bolt right up to the lower part? i have not taken the lower part from the boat, its still bolted on to the boat.
