Re: 82 Mercruiser 140 Hesitates and Bogs
Kinda have the same problem but have discovered a few interesting things :
Have a 1991 Mercruiser 4cyl 3.0LX, or at least thats what my Mercruiser manual states. The pictures on the manual are pretty distinct, the LX intake manifold is much bigger than the L. However I just removed the carb to find the model number 9562-2 then below 1201. All the manuals that I have seen online state that the 9562 carb is for the L version of the 3.0, however the jets and power value have been changed to 1.55 and .84 respectively. This is the 36mm carb throat version and not the 43mm one. It would seem that the previous owner tried to up the jetts and the power valve to compensate for the smaller carb being on the LX. The carb internals seem quite clean and must have just been rebuilt.
My biggest question is should I rebuild this carb and re-install hoping that will fix my bogg problem, or is this the wrong carb for this engine?
Thanks!
D.
