I have an 82 50hp Mercury (s/n:06224664) that when I fired up for the first time this season sounded rough. I have confirmed that the bottom 2 cylinders (3 + 4) are getting no spark. I have verified that the plugs, wires, and coils are not the problem. I also verified that it was not a grounding issue to those 2 coils. Compression is excellent and consistent among the 4 cylinders.
At this point, I believe the problem is the switch box. Any thoughts? Is there a way to test the switch box first before replacing it?
