I was wondering what type of steering cable system would work with these types of motors. when I bought this boat the old owner told me that he attached the handle to the motor because he didn't want to get steering cables and the such. I was thinking of a Teleflex Rotary SS-137 steering system
but I am not too sure. Here is the link to steering system I am looking at.

I'm hesitant to purchases a system because I am not that experienced with steering systems/motors.

That motor should take tilt-tube steering, which is what the Teleflex is. When you tilt the motor up, the pivot point should be a tube with threads on one end. The steering cable goes through the tube, and the big nut is fastened on the threaded portion. You need a link, which connects the end of the cable with the motor itself.
