Re: '83 Johnson 35 "slipping" and "reving" in forward

Hello again all,
Unfortunately, the old addage remains true... a hole in the water that I keep having to dump money in. I couldn't get the prop off, so I just drug the whole thing in and it seems that the hub is EXTREMELY well frozen to the prop shaft and she's not going to budge. It was recommended that I heat the hub and then try to remove it but I don't have a puller and I'm afraid that heating the hub will heat the shaft and then I'll have to replace all of th seals. Oh yeah, I almost forgot... on the way home the cover blew off (faulty latch that I hadn't yet replaced) and got crushed by a car! Insult to injury be dammed! Anyone know where I can get a cover for a 1983 35 Johnson Sea Horse... cheaply!

Sorry to hear about that hood. I would search ebay every so often for it. Other years and hp might fit. the 25,30,35 hp covers I'm guessing are the same (someone I hope can tell you for sure) I walso would think most of the years around then would fit too......visually it doesnt look like the shape has changed much from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. Some of the experts on the site will know for sure......I'm just thinking out loud.

Here is one I saw on ebay.
Hood

As for the stuck hub......I think that problem has occured a few times. Either someone who has expirience will chime in, or you may want to do a search of the forum to see if there is a thread about it.

Thanks P.O.N.Y.,
Knowing that it's called a hood is going to make my life much easier. If anyone does know what years might fit, please let me know. This one on eBay fits my budget and could save the day if it would fit!

just a quick note, my hub was spun on a johnson 9.5 and it acted judt like you originally described. The guys here told me and a new prop fixed all. Thanks to ol' Zeke.
