had this motor for a while now the other day it would not come out of foward so i pulled the lower unit the long shaft that moves it from fw. to rv came out that was the problem looked up topan i could see were it had poped up so i pushed it back down in to the houseing replaced the lower unit all was fine so now its happened agian what holds that little arm an rod in the houseing bought a sealoc manuel its worthless the carbs an all will have to come off to pull that rod out any helpwould be great???

You might tell us the HP or at least the number of cylinders. Normally the shift rod doesn't pop up and disengage fromt he gearcase's lower shift rod.

it is a 50hp 4 cylinder and that right it should not just pop up im some what mech inclined pulling the lower unit was no big deal but removeing both carbs and all else that must come off is a big deal just wondering is there a clip or something that i cant see for there isnt much room to work with. thanks for your reply

No clip. It is a slip fit and friction + gravity should hold it in place
