another question is the 79 and 84 gear casing interchangeable? if not what years be interchangeable for the 79 as i was thinking once i get the 84 fixed ill rebuild the 79 its missing the gear case
There is a website where you can look all this stuff up !!!----------But you do not seem to want to trust information posted here , by folks who have repaired / rebuilt these motor for many years.
never said that but when you only rely on boats .net iboats and all the sites that show the same diagram and the same part numbers from i boats and boats net i just double checking..... as i just in a hurry.... and when i google the part numbers i cant find it myself as i basiclly need it in 10 min and you keep uysing works supercede you need to use the word upgrade then.... as all i know is the Orginal part number. as these sites dont use the upgraded numbers.... as the mechican i talked to he is not real mechanic just does it as a hobby as for marina was just a parts person new there and looked it up.... thats why i looking for this same website these guys are using..... as i wanna make sure that the 79 block is 100% same as 84 block as well minus the paint so i can use it instead of the 84 block .
never said anyone with 40 yrs experience i didnt believe... i dont know anyone with 40 yrs experience.... i just asked questions...

He's simply asking which "specific" website you (or others) use(d) to find the superceding part numbers progression. I can't offer him our BRP dealer access....but
yes the marineengine site seems to show the break downs where here brp and boats net doesnt show the what options you can replace it with ... now i can go over all the parts to see what i can swap out etc... thank you
The following cranks will interchange.....1977-78 115/140hp......1979-86 90thru 140.......and a odd one 1982-85 90 thru 115hp #393751 it uses different seal and lower end cap. Also the 79 porting will be different than the 84. Your 115 should have the bubble back and to make it work on the 79 you will need to cut the exhaust divider, install the deflector blocks and mill the back flush with them and have exhaust/intake port s brought up to the 84 matching specs as the 79 is crank rated and only 88-95hp at prop where the 84 is 110-117hp at prop. Also look as the 79 may not have the casting bosses to mount your single pack as 79 had dual packs on side of block...
That is correct. The 115 of 1984 was a flat back, but it did have 140 style porting. Also, 1984 still had twin packs, not a single pack...
The later 115 crossflows were, in fact, the same motor as the 1984 & prior crossflow 140, after they re-rated the line-up to propshaft horsepower in 1985.
