Did you guys trowel on the glue? I used 3m super 90 contact glue....worked great, less mess.

I can't remember what brand it was, but it was trowel on outdoor carpet glue. It was dang messy because it was so thin it didn't cling to the trowel very well at all. Is the super 90 in aerosol like super 77?

Re: '84 Wellcraft Repairs and Paint

Okay, I got the carpet finished up today. That ugly seam didn't turn out too bad. I just used some aluminum carpet trim to cover it up. The only problem was that I didn't have any way to attach the trim to the sides. I secured the trim to the deck and bent it up the sides and just glued the it with 3m spray adhesive. We'll see how long it holds. Tomorrow will be a very big day. I have a pretty long list of things to finish up, so I enlisted the help of my dad so we'll have a better chance of getting her seaworthy for Saturday. It's going to be tight, and there are a few things that won't be done, but done enough to go to the lake. Here are a few pics of the carpet.

Looks great man, that carpet glue is sticky. I uses whatever is at Home Depot and it has worked great. I think it might have been 3M.

And you can do it. Get to the lake on saturday!!!!!!!

Re: '84 Wellcraft Repairs and Paint

Yeah its like 77, just stronger. Works great, no mess and all the goopy stuff. Its also nice that it sticks when you lay it up....that way you can do a little at a time and not have to worry about it flopping over on the vertical surfaces. Are you headed to Eufaula? If so let me know I'm going out that way.

Re: '84 Wellcraft Repairs and Paint

Well everyone, it hurts my soul to have to say that the ol' boat won't be hitting the water this weekend:(:(:( My dad and I put in a solid 15 hrs today and there were just too much to get done. I probably could have just slapped in the last few items and hauled her to the lake, but if I did, all I would have done is worry all weekend. So well just go to the lake without her and I'll finish her up Monday or Tuesday and hit one of the local lakes on Wednesday or so. I'm extremely disappointed, but I certainly don't want to put a boat in the water that is unsafe. I'll keep pluggin away, but I can't pass up going to the lake this weekend. At least I can test out my new old seadoo. Hope Mrs. BBO doesn't divorce me now, I know she's awfully disappointed too. :(:(:(

Re: '84 Wellcraft Repairs and Paint

Yeah man, major bummer that I didn't get her done, but no sense in rushing at the end after all that hard work. We were out at Eufaula this weekend though. Saturday we hung out south of No. 9 marina, but today we were at Brooken Cove again. We went over to the cliffs over by the dam today and I kept my eyes peeled for Miss Morgan. I also had trouble with the new seadoo. She busted right off and was running splendedly, but after about a mile, running across some pretty big chop, I jumped a pretty good sized wake and came down kinda hard and that was all she wrote for the seadoo. I was dead in the water. Luckily I had my phone and my dad was putting his boat in about 1/2 a mile away just as it petered out on me and he towed me to the beach. I haven't figured out what happened yet, but it's bound to be something electrical that got knocked around when I hit that wake. We'll see. I should be able to finish up the boat in the next couple of days. My dad really helped me knock out quite a bit of the labor when he came down Friday. You know what they say, the devil is in the details. Almost there.

We'll I might have ran across you if I didn't have to head back home early. I had planned on hanging out down at the island on Sunday afternoon. Well maybe next time!

If I didn't have a beach full of people waiting for a turn on the skis, kneeboard, and tube, I would have given you a holler or just come over to the island. Or if my freakin seadoo hadn't crapped out, I woulda just buzzed over there.

Would have also worked out better if the whole "let's get up and out on the lake early" plan woulda worked. Then again we woulda missed out on biscuts and gravy for breakfast.. hmm decisions decisions...

Good day Sunday regardless since we both successfully slalomed for the first time!! :D And all will be well in two weeks when we try again with all our toys.. working (crosses fingers)

Oh and I never knew that seadoo's "buzzed"

Everything went pretty darn good. As you'll see in the video, I'm still missing some trim pieces and of the upholstery on the consoles. I'll get those on soon, but I think she already looks pretty slick. I'm pretty excited to finally get her on the water. :D Pardon the bland video. I don't have very good video editing skills.

Re: '84 Wellcraft Repairs and Paint

Glad yall like it.:) We put her in at a little lake about 20 miles SE of Lindsay called Clear Creek Lake. It's a tiny lake out in the boonies and it's so small that everybody has to go counter-clockwise around it, but it's close and good enough for a sea trial. I love the bucket seats. It's nice to be able to swivel around and kick your feet up on the beach seat when you're just chillin, and the spotter can face backwards when pulling a skier. I sure like the sound of that thru hull exhaust too. The boat seems lighter, more nimble, quicker to plane, and sits higher in the water. Before the resto, if i had passengers in the rear and nobody in the bow, it took forever to plane. Yesterday, I had two passengers in the back and absolutely no weight in the bow, and it planed out in a couple seconds. I'm very happy about that. One big deal to me was that there wasn't even a drop in the bilge! Didn't even need to pull the plug when we got done. The only negative was I could hear a slight whine when the drive was in gear. I need to check the engine alignment again now that it has been run a little. Hopefully not a dig deal, but I don't have much room to raise the engine on the mounts. Anywho, it all went splendedly, and I'll get moving on the fiishing touches and have her shinig like a new penny for the next Eufaula trip on the 24-25th.
