hi guys, searched the faq's with no luck, hope someone can help.
my yamaha 40 horse outboard seems to run great, until hot, and then it will immediately shut off, and i have to wait 5 to ten minutes for it to cool (i think), and then will restart. it seems as though this is an overheating shutdown, but my engine is 'spitting' at full force. new water pump last year, should be fine.
i have been using a deep cycle battery, and understand that i need to change that, and am in the process of doing so, however, i am curious if the unregulated charging system on this motor could cause the engine shutoff if i am indeed using an improper battery?
please help, the fish are biting!!!
