Go to www.boaterssupply.com and look on the gearcase parts page. A 150 or 200 of the same year is the same thing as a Sea Drive lower. Make sure the grommett is in your housing where the water tube fits in. The exploded view will give you a good idea of how it goes together.

So the pistons were not taken out when you fixed the crank. Did you notice the top plug not firing before the crank repair or after? It should be down on rpm if it was firing before and not now.

Good luck!

As for engine temperature, for about 90 bucks, NAPA sells a non-contact infrared thermometer. Takes the guess work out of the equation. Better then a Thermomelt Stik.

c/6

Hooty

Yes sir the grommet is indeed installed I think the instructions that came with the kit called it an insert so I did. May be wrong. The waterpump kit is installed just as the breakdown shows.
No I didn't see any reason to pull the pistons with so few hours on the motor. Is there a good reason? I'm learning.
Prior to the maintenance, the motor ran good once warm. Didn't notice if the plugs were dry back then. Sure would have helped if I did.

While running, if I pull the #1 plug it makes a noticeable difference, so I am getting fire and some fuel. It's just not enough fuel to wet the plug.

By the way, thanks for the link.

Re: '85 200hp seadrive with 1 dry sparkplug?

Hello guys, sorry so long between posts, but I work two jobs and didn't have any time. Anyway, this weekend I replaced both fuel pumps after finding a tear in one of the check valves inside one pump. Thought that was my problem but as my luck would have it, it didn't change a thing.
Swapped coils no change.
Sprayed soapy water on crankcase seams and #1 cyl bypass cover, with motor running no leak.

Pulled flywheel to check for anything obvious, nothing related to this problem. But did notice that my stator is melting down, black gooey stuff coming out. Lucky me, eh! May have to get a 3rd job to support this motor.

So I'm looking at a possible internal crankcase leak, sucking air instead of fuel. Is there a way to pressurize or place a vacuum on the crankcase to check for leaks?

Where would the most likely place to find a leak?
The plug that stays dry is the on the #1 Cyl
Thanks again
