85 force won't start

Hello all, I have a 88 85 force motor that started fine when I got it, after a few times out it would take a alittle time to start as if the starter was going bad (like in a car). The last time out it would just click, nothing else. So I took the starter out and tested it and it worked, when I put it back in it actually fired up, please help I appreciate your time.

Seperate and clean "all" connections from battery to starter. When you removed the starter you disturbed the corrosion at the starter mount.

Might have moisture in the starter if it works fine now. Did you lube the bushings and the drive when you had it out? Were the bolts tight when you took it out?

id check the the ground, and battery charge. just saying, I had a loose ground do that on a 1961 40 hp Johnson.
