85 hp 1969' electrical issues

So i got this motor for free and i'm beginning to suspect that it isn't all as it should be.
The only problem with it is i'm not getting a spark on any of the plugs no matter how much troubleshooting i do to it.
My first assumption is that coil isn't suppose to be there.
So i guess my question is what is suppose to be there
And how do i get it if thats even reasonable to expect.

I was told on another forum to find a FrankA as he might have some answers.

All i need is an acceptable work-around or replacement that will work on my engine as old as it is.
