85 hp force carb/injector leak? And power trim dropping.

Ok so I was smelling more than normal gas coming from under the engine cover and I believe the black rubber hosing that carries the gas to the carbs are leaking. I'm not too mechanically savoy but I think this us the issue. Can I just replace the hosing and use hose clamps vs zip ties that are on there now? And do I have to turn gas off or unhook anything before I try this?
My power trim was slowly dropping so I read if I add more fluid to the reservoir and lower and raise the engine a few times it would fix the issue. So I filled it as much as I could before it started over flowing out of the fill hole. I held my finger against it and quickly replaced the screw then raised and lowered about 10 times. It has slowed up but is now making a "clicking or thumping" noise as it slowly drops. It takes about 30 min for it to come all the way down out of water. My concern is as the manual said "do not over fill the reservoir " as it will leak into the motor and cause it to fail. So should I just open the fill screw and let it drain out to the correct level and leave it be? Thanks guys

You can replace the hoses with no problems. If there is a little residual pressure in the system, a bit of gas will come out but you won't have a "gusher." In fact, there will be some gas in the hoses and this will drip out when you change them.

You can use hose clamps, but if you do, be certain to buy ALL stainless. Some have a regular screw with a stainless band and these rust.

Zip ties are preferable to hose clamps because they are plastic and never rust AND, they can not be over-tightened like hose clamps and bite into the hose.

Under normal circumstances: Unless you really try to overfill the reservoir, or fill it while the tilt/trim is on its side, it is not possible to get enough fluid into it to enter the motor. Depending upon your system you either need a pump rebuild or need O-rings replaced. A couple of photos of your tilt/trim system would help.

Ok great ill post pics asap. Do I just copy and paste them? I've never posted pics before.

Secondly can I cause a bigger issue if I accidentally over tighten the ss clamps? I'd rather know theirs tight and won't happen again for a while at least.

And finally should the trim be up or down when filling the res?

slowly dropping is an age related problem with internal rubber seals. new or rebuilt valve body almost always fixes it.

Ok I just got home and took some pics. During that time 1 of the 2 hydrologic cylinders looks as if its leaking out the top

I had the same problem with both. Not enough pressure in the gas lines to leak, use hose clamps to replace the clothes pin clips. As for the the carbs I was leaking gas while running, out of the bowls the two bottom carbs. I took both of them off and cleaned the bowls. Lot of sed in the bottom. Re-adjusted the float and running ok. As the motor drops the gas feeds to the front cowl down the hose to the lake,
Your trim, Have you changed the fluid in it lately? If so use a thicker grade.

The carbs were replaced 2 years ago and the boat was used once in them 2 years is that build up going to happen even with no use? And if I use a thicker grade fluid isn't that still going to leak outta the top of that hydraulic?

I found this discussion earlier i think this is pretty easy to follow just need to know if by looking at my pics if this is indeed what I need to do to fix my problem. Very detailed post...
