Well i finally got around to rebuilding the Mercarb 2bbl on my Mercruiser 140. During teardown i looked at the two jets and they had 2 different jet sizes. a 160 and a 165. I am not sure if this is common but thought i would check before reassembly. I have searched for a few hours last night and couldn't find anything that came close to what i am asking.

I am also wondering about my choke. The rod seems very loose and i feel its binding up when i try opening it by hand. So i can only imagine how it must be for the electric choke to open it. Is this supposed to be so loose? Is there any way to tighten it up? When i first got the boat i thought the electric choke needed to be replaced because it wasn't operating correctly but i am now starting to wonder if its the binding all along.

Thanks!

can't speak for boats or for your engine/carb but in my days of racing cars and building my own engines we used to stagger jets in the q-jet occasionally and almost always with the holleys. i usually had 4 different jet sizes in the holley at the same time
