85hp evinrude slips out of gear

the engine goes into gear but as soon as you give it a little more gas than just idle it revs up alot and doest go anywhere can any 1 help me

I don't know what year your motor is but check the shift cable to make sure it is going in gear all the way, if the cable is ok check the shift linkage to the lower unit make sure it is adjusted right (a sign it's the linkage is if it's going in rev. quicker than it used to, if that's ok make sure the hub in the prop isn't slipping it will give the same effect.

Welcome to iboats redneck....<br /><br />I think the spun prop that Bass Runner mentioned is the thing to look at. Make a reference mark on the prop hub and the outter hub. Make sure they line up. If the motor revs again in gear, check the reference marks. If they moved, the hub is spun. Oh...and ya' gotta use some kind of marker that won't wash off. A bright colored magic marker works pretty good.
