I have an '85 Force 85hp outboard on a 16' bayliner capri. It starts and idles great and does mid to full throttle great. At anything slightly above idle (basically when i am trying to go down a river or anything that requires a no wake zone) it starts bucking and dies.
Spark plugs are new, compression on all three around 135-140, ran fuel system cleaner and dry gas through it. Everyone i have talked to is baffled.
I can go slowly forward in idle but my range is basically limited to about 2mph or over 10. Boat will do 34 at full so it runs great otherwise.

Thanks

Try pulling off the plate on the port side of the engine and clean the screens in the oil recirculation drains. make sure that the hose is not btoken or plugged. Be certain that the fitting at the intake manifold is not plugged either.

Just for giggles, replace the fuel pump diaphragm and gasket. You might have a small perforation and be wet fouling the plugs.
