Re: 85hp force idle air mix adjusment inop
Congrats! But as for the air-fuel mix screw (air screw as referred by others) adjustment I still recommend going at least 3/4 or 7/8 of a turn. With lean air-fuel mix setting you can actually damage the engine as it will also run lean even at high throttle settings. I understand when you first adjust the air screw from initial setting of 1 turn from lightly seated in the CC direction, the engine will go from low rpm to high rpm and then back to low and start to misfire due to too rich of fuel mixture. And when you go clockwise (CW) direction, the same thing happens except it will start misfiring due to very lean fuel mixture.
The appropriate setting is actually at mid point of these two points, too rich and too lean fuel mixture. The engine will not idle as smoothly but will sure have enough fuel in the mixture to ensure proper lubrication. With a little lean mixture, the engine runs smoothly but with poor lubrication and can result in scored cylinders or worse yet damage pistons!
