to be honest you need to turn the fuel mixtures about 1 turn out and then just turn your idle up again higher - when you turn them out more, the idle with go down (if my memory serves me correctly)

Congrats! But as for the air-fuel mix screw (air screw as referred by others) adjustment I still recommend going at least 3/4 or 7/8 of a turn. With lean air-fuel mix setting you can actually damage the engine as it will also run lean even at high throttle settings. I understand when you first adjust the air screw from initial setting of 1 turn from lightly seated in the CC direction, the engine will go from low rpm to high rpm and then back to low and start to misfire due to too rich of fuel mixture. And when you go clockwise (CW) direction, the same thing happens except it will start misfiring due to very lean fuel mixture.

The appropriate setting is actually at mid point of these two points, too rich and too lean fuel mixture. The engine will not idle as smoothly but will sure have enough fuel in the mixture to ensure proper lubrication. With a little lean mixture, the engine runs smoothly but with poor lubrication and can result in scored cylinders or worse yet damage pistons!

Yup start at 1 turn out and see if it runs.
If not out another 1/8 until it runs.
Worked on a 85/85 and it wouldn't run right until I started at 1,1/2 turns out.
Get the motor warm.Turn the top carb screw in 1/8th turn at a time.
WAIT 10-15 seconds before you turn again. It takes that time to burn the fuel at the old setting.
Then when it slow/stops/bucks/misses.Turn it back out 1/2 turn.
Then do the same on the other cylinders.
Once all 3 have been done? Do it again.
Very important to wait 10-15 seconds between the turns.
Leaving at 1/2 turn would scare me.
Install a filter before the pump or just after it.
