I have a 1970 85 hp rude and I bought me a boat with a 1972 85 hp rude for parts. I only gave 300 for it, anyway I was going to use it just for parts but it kinda looked better than mine. The 70 runs great
but I figure two running motors or better than one
. I also wanted some experience working on them, I am a machanic but not a outboard machanic. The 72 was not getting fire so I read the manual did the test and it was the amplfier, took it off the other one taped a wire and now it gets fire. Still won/t start, did a compression test close to 120 on all of them.
When I pump the bulb, it does not seem to want to pump up full, there is a little gas leak comming from the connector. Will that stop it from starting or do you think the floats or stuck thereby causing the bulb not to pump up fully? I do not know how long this motor has been sitting. He said he had it running last year but you know how that goes.
