85hp suzuki stuck forward

I just bought a 85hp suzuki and cant get it out of forward.It feels like the shaft going under from starbord to port is stuck. Any ideas. How do I get to the shaft that goes down port side? Thanx

the problem is common if the carrier has been pulled are if the shift leakage has beenm tampered with. you will havrt to pull carrier out and push shift rod down in case. If you pull up on \ shift rod to much it will allow the shift pin in foot tool go forward and get locked in you wont be able to shi
