I believe you have a six cylinder, I think you have two power packs on top of each other one powers 246 and the other powers 135 this could be your problem they do have intermitent problems when going bad. Also I would check your trigger, you can do this with an ohm meter and the manual. Check the trigger first because there is no way of checking the pack. Just my 2 cents. Good luck. Let us know.
CU

There is a device underneath your flywheel that sends electric impulses to your powerpack and then they are transfered to your coil and then to the spark plug. You can easily check this with an ohm meter and a manual. You can also rule out the power pack by changing them around, if you have the same problem but on the other side, your power pack is the problem, also make sure all your grounds are tight and clean. Good luck and let us know what you found out.
CU

The stator is under the flywheel also and it can be check with a meter also. I wouldn't pull the flywheel unless you have check this first. Stator and trigger are easy to check, if they check out fine I would suspect the power pack. GOOD LUCK.
CU

Before you buy parts check the outputs from the Stator and trigger using either a Peak ranging DC multimeter or a Scope (if you know someone that has one). You can check these at the switchboxes. (called power pack above. Procedure ,I believe, is in factory manual. Might save you a load of money on parts you don't need. I had similar problems and it turned out to be a bad outer switchbox, which dropped the spark to cyls 4 and 6 until motor and therefore switchbox got warm. On mine , with a cold engine there was no spark but you could warm the switchbox up with a hair dryer for a few minutes and the spark would come back. You would also be getting an oil alarm if you lost the output to no 4 cyl coil from switchbox ,as this is compared to oil pump shaft motion sensor...if the two don't match alarm goes off. Switchboxes fail all the time , so it's quite likely this is the problem a lot of dealers keep the switchboxes in stock because of this.
