Ok first and formost its great to see boat nuts! I mean nuts in the craziest sense of the word lol. im a Streetrod guy at heart and like anyone who will drag something home that most will scrap and be proud of. I drug home a capri that isnt that bad (in my opinion) and in the opinion of my wife.... well lets just say shes used to me grand schemes.....
so here it is.. the boat has been neglected and there is a puncture in the lower hull about 4 inch long about mid -hull and close to the keel. there is wood rot under the front seats and i can almost guaratee everywhere else. so my questions are these 1) i have read alot of post on the types of resins and glass to use... can someone make this simpler (ie go get this and stick it on etc) 2) what is peanut butter? got some jiffy in the pantry:) and 3rd i plan on just running it (easy) this summer and have noticed the trin switch is on the dash not on the throttle lever... can this be changed out and if so what can i use?

Re: 86 Bayliner Capri

Welcome to iboats notsunkyet...

There really is no ez way hehe..

Pictures are almost always needed for advise on glass repairs.. hope to see them soon :)

basically your gonna need safety gear.. resporator etc..

Poly resin..some 1.5 oz mat, 1708 glass and some acetone right from the gitgo.

Depending on how ez it is to get access to the inside .. but a straight forward repair.

Get some pics up and well be able to give you some advise/steps on what to do..

sweet! i have most all the saftey stuff from years of body work... i just know resin and mat are different from the car world... I ve never done a boat before and cant imagine it being something i need a degree from NASA to fix. I jsut dont know the types of ooey gooey stuff to use.. and there is obviously so much out there from reading all the stuff on Bayliner repairs i want to be able to get the good stuff get it done right and forget about it..:)

Re: 86 Bayliner Capri

it is a starter boat in my opinion... i think i think its the 16 foot bow rider...not bad for learneing on and who know by the time i get everything done my boys will be old enough to use if themselves which is a cool thought in its self! anyway it has the force 85 and runs just needs usual tlc.
