I am posting for a friend who lost his "outdrive cover". He said the shaft is exposed but the gears are still in sealed unit. He called it an "outdrive cover". Deep water, not recoverable. 1986 Bayliner Ciera 24 1/2 footer. Is this going to be hard to find? About how much? Thanks in advance!

Anything used anywhere or are these lost in the water so often that they are scarce?

I bought a used one for $60. A new one isn't a whole lot more.

Until my buddy locates an affordable cover is there any reason why he cannot stick his boat in the water. Any mechanical problems with this? Please let me know before he ruins something. Thanks!

More to protect the linkages from getting damaged from something running into it. Its not a waterproof cover. Also, if you happen to be swimming near the back of the boat, the linkages could hurt you if you happen to bump a body part into them.
