1986 mercury inline 6, converted to ob jet.
Motor starts and runs great, idles at 800.. all day and wot is 5300 - 5400 rpm..
The issue i am having is when i am at wot and go into a power slide it drops down to 4500 rpms. it isnt cavitation of the impeller or it would raise the rpms..
I went through today, cleaned all 3 carbs, new floats, needles and seats and did a link and sync as procedure on my manual and new gas line through out the whole motor.
Problem persists, it wont do it if i do a normal turn but as soon as i start sliding it cuts, i am not and have not ran it more than needed for testing, i don't want to burn up a piston.
It happens when i turn either way and it only cuts out for 4 or 5 seconds, i had a buddy check the wiring and none of that is binding, my gas line is free and not binding either. If i am at idle and turn hard and hit wot it doesnt do it, tried both ways. I checked all of my grounds etc and everything is tight.
I keep thinking maybe a float is getting caught up or a needle is sticking but changing both didn't remedy, but it did make it so it doesn't cut out as long..
any ideas?
