Trying to adjust the idle setting in a 15hp today. It seems to idle well with the remote throttle slightly engaged but not with the trottle all the way back. I can't take any more slack out of the cable. I had originally thought it was a stretched cable, so the one I have on now is brand new - same deal.

Recent carb rebuild, idle mixture seems dead on, link and sync etc.

There's only a hair difference between high speed idle throttle position and what seems to be about 500rpm. I figured maybe I didn't clean the idle circuit carefully enough, so I opened it back up and it all seems clear. Choke on or off makes no difference.

I'm off to go get a new plug for the idle jets.

Ideas?

Carb re-soaked, and properly sklorbed out. New plug back on and reassembled - same result. I guess I'll check to see if both cylinders are firing properly at idle when I get back at it tomorrow. I did notice a spot on the retainer ring that's threaded for an idle stop screw. Anyone ever use that?

So, everything is sparking and it's running real good bumped up a bit on the controls from idle and sits right in at about 700rpms. I did find a questionalble ground on a coil and cleaned that off. Seemed to clean up some of the roughness under 1000rpm. Still, I find it odd that I'm at the max adjustment on the cable and that's still not enough. For now I put in an idle stop screw on the armature ring until I figure out a better way. Maybe it's just time for a rebuild on this one.
