OEM P/N 508180 BRP Ignition Switch with push-to-choke.

Started it up 10 days ago. Ran fine but the old ignition switch was sticking in the start position. Got the OEM replacement. Took some pictures to make sure I installed it right (even read the instructions!). completed the install and NOTHING. No click from when pushing in the key to choke, no cranking. So I reinstalled the old switch with the same results. The engine cranks when I jump the starter to the positive battery connector. Now I need tips on how to troubleshoot. I have a multimeter. When replying, please don't assume I know anything you're talking about. Explain like you're talking to someone who needs step-by-step instructions. The first pic is the wiring diagram from the package. The second is the top of the switch, with the black cap on the left indicating the large blade screw connector on thee diagram and the two connection topside. The third is the bottom of the switch, indicated by the three connections on the right side of the diagram. Many thanks for you're help, PW

PS: I forgot to disconnect the battery. (Yeah, I know. Bogus mistake.) So while I didn't see any sparks doing the swap, if I could have blown a fuse, please let me know where to look for it.

Why disconnect a battery with so many wires. So close to each other ? It is only 12 volts.

the switch just transfers incoming B+ to accessories (A) and choke (C) and start function (S) ( also kills the engine when OFF)

if nothing happens check that you did not blow a fuse (if any) or at least the key is getting B+ on the B post ... if not trace back and find out why!

use a VOM to check basic continuity between the incoming wire B+ post and other individual outputs A C S as you rotate or push switch positions .

this MAY help out... see fuse near solenoid !!
